Where it comes from
Argentina is best known abroad for Malbec, yet Cabernet Sauvignon has deep roots in the country and produces wines of real structure. Staphyle takes its name from Greek mythology, and the line names follow suit: Vástago de Gea is Spanish for "offspring of Gaia", the Greek goddess of the Earth. The idea is a wine that speaks of the ground it grew in. This Cabernet shows the variety's classic side, peppery spice and dark tobacco, rounded off by a touch of vanilla. It is a full-bodied red that makes no attempt to be light or breezy; it is built for the table and for unhurried meals.
