Where it comes from
Mendoza, in western Argentina at the foot of the Andes, is the country's most important wine region. A dry, sunny climate with wide swings between day and night temperatures lets grapes ripen fully while keeping their freshness. Malbec arrived from France in the 19th century and found conditions in Mendoza that suit it better than its original home; today it is the grape most people associate with Argentine wine. Luján de Cuyo, just south of the city of Mendoza, is one of the historic districts where Malbec has been grown the longest, and Agrelo is one of its sub-zones. Staphyle's Premium line presents the variety in a classic way: dark fruit, a short spell in oak and rounded tannins.
Matured in oak barrels, including French oak, which lends a subtle vanilla note.

Serve at around 16 °C in a large red wine glass.
