De dónde viene
Vástago de Gea roughly translates as 'offspring of Gaia', a shoot of the earth, and is the name Staphyle gives to its young varietal wines. This Malbec comes from Agrelo, a district of Luján de Cuyo just south of the city of Mendoza and one of Argentina's oldest wine areas. The vineyards sit at the foot of the Andes, where the climate is dry and sunny and cool nights help the grapes keep their freshness. Malbec arrived from south-west France in the 19th century and found its true home in Mendoza, becoming Argentina's signature grape. Only part of this wine sees oak, so the fruit leads. It is the kind of Malbec Argentines open with an everyday meal.
Around 30% of the wine is aged in French oak barrels.
