Where it comes from

The Huarpe range takes its name from the pre-Columbian people who first lived in Mendoza and built irrigation channels that turned an arid landscape into an oasis where vines now thrive. Vista Flores sits in the department of Tunuyán, at the heart of the Uco Valley, Mendoza's high-altitude wine region at the foot of the Andes. The vines grow at 1,100 metres near the Tunuyán River, on alluvial sandy-loam soils scattered with river stones. These soils are low in organic matter and drain freely, so the vines never get more water or nutrients than they need. Winemaker José Hernández Toso pairs two grapes with distinct jobs here: Bonarda supplies freshness and fruit, Petit Verdot gives structure and persistent tannins. The winery puts its ageing potential at 15 years.

Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
