The wineries behind our wines

Family projects and single vineyards at the foot of the Andes. Who makes each wine, and where.

Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza

Caelum

A family estate in Agrelo that spent a decade growing grapes before it started bottling its own wine.

Caelum is a small constellation of the southern sky, and its Latin name means chisel, the sculptor's tool. The family behind the winery chose it on purpose: what the chisel is to a sculptor, their own hands are to them, in the vineyard and in the cellar.

Huarpe

Two Mendoza vineyards, Agrelo and high-altitude Gualtallary, in the hands of a winemaker trained in Germany and Alto Adige.

Huarpe is a winery in Agrelo, in Luján de Cuyo. This is the traditional core of Mendoza viticulture, just south of the city, and home ground for Malbec, Argentina's leading grape.

LUI Wines

Wines that follow the vineyard rather than a house style: Mauricio Vegetti Lui's exploration of terroir.

LUI Wines does not start from a single estate. Its starting point is a question: what does a particular place taste like? Winemaker Mauricio Vegetti Lui works with grape growers in more than a dozen wine regions.

Riglos

Single-vineyard wines from high-altitude Gualtallary, at the foot of the Andes.

Riglos began in 2002 with two friends from Buenos Aires, Darío Werthein and Fabián Suffern. They had a precise brief: alluvial soils, real altitude, strong sunlight and cold nights.

Staphyle

A third-generation Mendoza family with old vines in Agrelo and the first vineyard in the mountains of Potrerillos.

Staphyle is the project of Federico Porretta, third generation of a Mendoza family whose grandparents arrived from Italy. Before wine, the Porrettas left their mark on the province in very different fields: building infrastructure, energy and communications.
